We are a section of California Social Club Ltd. (CIU Affiliated) and we hope that you find all the information needed & useful to existing members, guests and to anyone who may be interested in joining us.

 

California Bowls Club is a long established club which take part in both codes of bowls played in Suffolk. Bowls England (BE) both Men's & Women's, English Bowling Federation (EBF) & English Woman's Bowling Federation (EWBF). Our total bowling membership is around 30 plus non bowling life members and we are always looking for new bowlers of all abilities whether you have played before or not. 

 

We have a reputation for being a club of average playing strength and of a competitive nature, but will always try to accommodate bowlers of all standards from beginner to county players. 

 

Over the years we have provided many representatives for Suffolk's various county teams and have enjoyed a great deal of success in both individual and team events.

 

The club is proud to have provided Two County Presidents together with EBF National Triples, BE Eastern Counties Triples and numerous Suffolk County Champions.

 

The Green is maintained by members and is generally of a good standard and there are a maximum of five rinks available with the club regularly hosting events on behalf of Suffolk County. 

 

The club shirt features the Californian Yellow Poppy together with the sponsors endorsement.

The Green is floodlit and these are used for some events for example Charity Pairs Day & Club Competitions at the end of the season.

​Bowlers must be members of the social club and this gives full use of all the facilities which include Three bars, numerous additional sports sections, regular entertainment and other social events.

​

​The Bowls Club is situated behind California Social Club; who's entrance is off Foxhall Road. The entrance can be found just before the railway bridge on Foxhall Road when approaching from central Ipswich. Turn into the gate and drive across the front of the social club to find the car park. The area of "California" lies approximately East of the Town centre.
